BuilderMaster is a sole trader handyman business based in Crawley, West Sussex. We provide small home repairs, painting, installations, maintenance and end-of-tenancy services across Crawley and surrounding areas.

This Privacy Policy explains what very limited personal information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

2. What information we collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide you with a quote or to carry out a job. We never require names or email addresses.

Through our simple quote request form:

  • Postcode – to confirm we can serve your location and estimate travel time if needed
  • Phone number – so we can contact you quickly to discuss your job and provide a quote
  • Your message / job description – details about what work you need (e.g. "TV mount in RH10" or "reseal bath before tenancy end")

Through WhatsApp messages:

  • Phone number (automatically visible in WhatsApp)
  • Any photos, voice notes or text you send describing your job

We do **not** collect names, email addresses, home addresses (beyond postcode), payment details, or any other personal information unless you voluntarily provide it later when booking a job.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you provide **only** for the following purposes:

  • To confirm we can serve your area (using postcode)
  • To contact you by phone or WhatsApp to discuss your job and give you a quote
  • To understand what work is required so we can prepare properly

We do **not**:

  • Send marketing emails or newsletters (we don’t collect emails)
  • Sell, rent or share your information with any third parties for marketing
  • Use your data for automated profiling or decision-making

4. How long we keep your information

We keep your postcode, phone number and job description only as long as needed to provide the quote and complete the job (usually a few weeks to a few months).

After the job is finished (or if you decide not to proceed), we delete your messages and details unless there is a legal reason to keep them (e.g. payment records for accounting purposes, which we keep for 6 years as required by UK tax law).

5. Who we share your information with

We do **not** share your personal information with any third parties except in these very limited situations:

  • If required by law (e.g. court order)
  • To our accountant for tax and VAT purposes (only financial records, never job details)

No data is shared with marketing companies, data brokers, or any other third parties.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to delete your information (we will do so unless we need to keep it for legal reasons)
  • Ask us to stop contacting you

To make any of these requests, simply message us on WhatsApp or email info@buildermaster.co.uk. We will respond within one month (usually much faster).

7. Cookies on our website

We only use essential cookies required for the website to function properly (e.g. remembering if you accepted the cookie banner).

We do **not** use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, advertising cookies or any third-party cookies that collect personal data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the bottom shows when it was last changed. We recommend checking back occasionally.
